19 of Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial trophy for over two years with victory over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, managing just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.
His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and struggles with his service game in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-time mentor Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Moutet.
This marks the player's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard surface from March of the previous year.
Success also indicates he has secured twenty-one championships at 21 distinct competitions.
"For the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to secure a championship is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."
Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, including in Halle previously this season.
His retrieving approach and frequent emotional displays on court had prompted commentators to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was over.
However the player has made changes in the past month, attempting to approach the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to go ahead.
The pair exchanged break points in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first ATP Tour victory, gained dominance to force a third set.
He saved four initial opportunities in a competitive third set before Medvedev won the break to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev earned the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
